MARIA KÕRVITS

Maria Kõrvits (s 1987) on heliloomingut õppinud Tallinna muusikakeskkoolis Alo Põldmäe juhendamisel ning lõpetanud Eesti muusika- ja teatriakadeemia kompositsiooni erialal Tõnu Kõrvitsa ja Helena Tulve käe all. Ta on täiendanud end erinevates meistriklassides, näiteks Arvo Pärdi, Erkki-Sven Tüüri, Veljo Tormise jt juures. Maria Kõrvits on heliloojana resideerinud Loviisa kunstnike stuudios ja Mehhiko muusika ja helikunsti keskuses.

Maria Kõrvits on kirjutanud peamiselt kammermuusikat ja kooriteoseid. Tema loomingut on esitanud Eesti Riiklik Sümfooniaorkester, Pärnu Linnaorkester, Eesti Filharmoonia Kammerkoor, kammernaiskoor Sireen, segakoor HUIK!, SaxEst, Eesti Rahvusmeeskoor, Norrbotten NEO, kammerkoor Kolm Lindu jt. Orkestriteos “langedes ülespoole, taeva kaarjasse kaussi” võitis 2016. aastal Wrocławis rahvusvahelise heliloojate rostrumi alla 30-aastaste kategoorias. Eduka loomingulise tegevuse eest pälvis Maria Kõrvits Eesti Kultuurkapitali helikunsti sihtkapitali aastapreemia (2016). Tema teoste põhiaineseks on inimese-looduse protsessid ja nende peegeldused teineteises.

Maria Kõrvits (b. 1987) studied composition at the Tallinn Music High School with Alo Põldmäe and graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, where she studied composition with Tõnu Kõrvits and Helena Tulve. She has further developed her work in masterclasses with composers including Arvo Pärt, Erkki-Sven Tüür, and Veljo Tormis. She has also been composer in residence at the Lovisa Artists’ Studio and at the Centre for Music and Sonic Arts in Mexico.

Maria Kõrvits has written mainly chamber and choral music. Her works have been performed by the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Pärnu City Orchestra, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, chamber women’s choir Sireen, mixed choir HUIK!, SaxEst, Estonian National Male Choir, Norrbotten NEO, chamber choir Kolm Lindu, among others. Her orchestral work langedes ülespoole, taeva kaarjasse kaussi won the under-30 category at the International Rostrum of Composers in Wrocław in 2016. She received the annual music prize of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia for her creative work in 2016. The central material of her music often grows from processes of human nature and their reflections in one another.
